Lunar calendar CBD flowers 2023

Lunar calendar

Since time immemorial, numerous planting methods have been tested and adopted by every civilization and every gardener. Cultivation according to the lunar cycle is one of the preferred methods for those wishing to plant hemp and harvest CBD flowers. The different phases of the moon have significant effects on the growth and development of hemp.hemp's growth and development. Following the lunar calendar is a particularly interesting option if you want to make the most of your planting. This calendar guides you to the best period for planting the seeds, transplanting the plant and harvesting the flowers.

Lunar cycles and their properties

Depending on the day, the moon performs an elliptical motion that varies its distance from the Earth, giving us the illusion that it's moving up or down in the sky.

  • Rising moon : The rising moon causes liquids, including the sap in hemp plants, to rise to the top of the plant. This is the ideal time to prepare cuttings.
  • Waning moon : in contrast to the previous movement, liquids flow downwards when the moon is waning. The underground part of the plant is therefore more active, making it easier to germinate or plant seeds.

The different lunar phases and their characteristics

The lunar phases correspond to the parts of the star illuminated by the sun and visible from Earth. Over the course of a 29.5-day cycle, the moon goes through 4 main phases.

  • New moon: during this first phase of the cycle, the moon is barely visible. The plant is resting and the sap is not moving. This period is not ideal for working the plant, but it is recommended for pruning diseased plants.
  • Waxing moon: this phase is divided into three smaller phases, depending on the shape and size of the visible part of the star (first crescent moon, first quarter moon and waxing gibbous moon). During this period, lunar light stimulates the plant's internal activity, making it easier to fight off pests and diseases. Pruning, however, is not recommended.
  • Full moon: when moonlight is at its peak, sap rises in the higher parts of the plant, so pruning is not recommended. However, this is a particularly propitious period for seed germination and transplanting.
  • Waning moon: this phase is also broken down into three small waning stages before the arrival of the next new moon (waning gibbous, last quarter and last crescent). During this period, sap flows back down into the lower parts of the plant, facilitating action on the soil. Planting, sowing and transplanting are not recommended. On the other hand, this is the ideal time to fertilize, water or harvest CBD flowers. The aromas and various properties of the plant are enhanced tenfold during this period.

The lunar cycle by constellation

In addition to the lunar cycle and phases, the constellations have an impact on hemp plants.

  • The fire constellations (Aries, Sagittarius, Leo) are associated with the plant's seeds;
  • Air constellations (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius), on the other hand, are more conducive to caring for CBD flower;
  • When the moon crosses the water constellations (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces), it's a good time for hemp leaves and stalks;
  • As for the Earth constellations (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn), they mainly concern everything to do with plant roots.
